Pack Up the Meatloaf – We’re Going to Slamdance!
"Flawless writing, outstanding performances, and inspired period production design come together in a sweet and very human story about the romantic hopes and dreams of a painfully regular guy."Paul Sbrizzi, Gallery Host, Co-Chair Shorts Programming, Slamdance Film Festival
Written and directed by Brad DeMarea, “An Evening with Emery Long” follows industrial carpet salesman, Emery Long, as he prepares for a date with the office hottie, Della, who used to date Ted, Emery’s best friend and fellow co-worker. Emery has planned the perfect evening, but soon realizes things might not turn out as he imagined.
Produced by Laura Szymber, “Emery” was shot in three days with a talented and seasoned cast and crew. Behind the lens, award-winning director of photography, Scott Thiele, helped capture the outstanding performances of Joel Spence (Emery Long), Sue Gillan (Della) and Danny McCarthy (Ted Pinkenton). In post-production, Brian Kallies assembled the best takes and helped deliver a heartfelt, comedic story while Brando Triantafillou and his team at Soundcake created an original Hammond B3 soundtrack and provided sound design.
“Emery” will screen twice at Slamdance before the feature comedy, “Spooner,” a story about how a thoroughly average guy facing eviction from his parent’s home on his 30th birthday, meets the girl of his dreams and creates his own rules for growing up.
